How I drew this sketch

It’s just not possible to explain the basic technique of working with color within such a tutorial. In my course 12 lessons are devoted to the keys of working with color and I do not know how to squeeze them into a couple of pictures and short videos 😁

One could say that this tutorial is mostly created for my students who have taken the course and learnt the skill

If you are still a beginner but are already serious about learning, let me take care of you and recommend starting with the basics πŸ‘‡

If you're a newbie and just want to have a cool night out! Without expecting too much from yourself, give it a try, it'll be fun!
Let's start
  • Step 1. I paint my skin with a base coat. In this case, my skin tone is based on orange. Adding a little bit of blue to it

There is no”right” skin tone. There's a million of them. You can use any you like. Maybe you already have a ready-made brown in your palette that works for you

  • Step 2. I apply the basic shadows to the skin: under the chin, under the skirt, under the scarf
  • Step 3: I apply the deepest shadows to the skin. They are placed inside the previous shadow
  • Step 4. I shade the hair, apply blush and tint the lips
  • Step 5. I draw a brighter eyelash and lighten the teeth with a white acrylic marker. Then outline skin and hair with a brown pencil to create contrast
  • Step 6. I apply a base layer to the sweater. I take magenta as a base color
  • Step 7. I apply the base shadows to the sweater. Showing the creases on the oversize sleeves. Shading on the sides of the sweater. Also showing the shadow cast by the scarf
  • Step 8. Emphasising the darkest areas. Deep shadows are inside the light shadows
  • Step 9. Tracing the outline with a burgundy marker. Done βœ”οΈ
