How to succeed in a creative profession. I share my personal experience
Mariartjournal
I think you've often heard that to succeed, you…
- need talent
- have to work hard
- need a lot of money
- should have started when you were a kid

It's all lies! Just the standard excuses of losers who couldn't make it

You need completely different things to become successful
1. Achieving success requires motivation

Success is not the quickest of achievements

So without a clear understanding of what reward you will receive at the end of the journey, success will not happen

When I was working as a waitress in 2017 and learning how to draw fashion on the weekends, I knew clearly:
- When I learn, I can travel, I can live in any country, anywhere in the world
- I never liked the clothes sold in the shops, I kept wanting a different colour, length, fabric.... And I knew that I would sketch my ideas and order custom tailoring of what I wanted!
- I knew that when I learnt to draw - I would design my own clothes, create my own clothing brand and open a small cosy boutique
- and... knew that when I learnt, all the haters saying "you can't do it" would feel %$^^^$11
2. Success requires respect for your creativity

Most people pursue creativity as a childish hobby, hoping to be noticed and recognized!

Nah… No luck!
They won't get noticed! Nor recognized!

IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!

Because as long as you don't respect your own creativity, others won't respect it either
Let me explain why this is so important

In the creative professions there is a very big watershed between "successful" and "losers"

In creative world, the top 1% make 99% of all money

It is strikingly clear if we remember that aspiring fashion designers pay to participate in fashion shows, while top designers get paid for the same shows

Or if you look at the cost of worldwide masterpieces and compare them with the cost of works by no name artists
On the one hand, there are some very cool benefits to such a division. Agree, being able to paint a picture in a weekend, sipping cocktails to your favorite playlist, and then sell it for $2000 - it is incredibly inspiring!

On the other hand, for this to become real for you, you have to enter the top 1%, and that requires some effort and, more importantly, a certain mindset

Let me tell you right away, it's real! And any thinking person can do it

But how to do it?
There are very different people among the top 1%. There are talented. There are hard workers. There are the lucky ones. Some are weird. There are those promoted by parents or producers. There are all kinds of people. But they all have one thing in common

All the professionals are respectful of their work

Respect is the basic condition for success. Without respect, failure is guaranteed

What does it mean to respect your creativity?
• Paint with quality tools, not what you have on hand.
• Learn from the best professionals, not cheap workshops
• Don't spare time and money for creative endeavours
• Don't sell your work for nothing
• Show your best work rather than drawing "at the table". Throw away your worst work

But there is good news here
If you respect your creativity, it will very quickly begin to bring income. All you need to do is buy professional equipment and gradually invest about $1000 in your training. Agree, it's not that much to be able to earn $1000 for a day's work in a couple of years
3. You have to love the work you do
I'll say it again
1% succeed
99% remain losers

What do you think … without genuine love and engagement in your work, what category do you think you fall into?
4. Success takes time

Guys, I'll be honest, I don't know how to become a top professional in 1 month

But at the same time, I don't know what you have to do wrong to not become a pro in 3-5 years

If you are in love with your art, if you respect it - you are doomed to success!

P. S.
Over the past 5 years, I have succeeded not only in fashion sketching and design, but also in 2 other areas:
- chocolate making
- photography

And if there was more hours in the day or if my love for either of these areas outweighed my love for fashion, I would be a top in either of these areas

I'll finish my thought! Success is easier than it seems. It's just:
Motivation!
Respect for creativity!
Love!
And time!
